Corvettes for Kids Toy Drive

Recently, fellow BNSF employee, Larry Dodd, senior claims representative in Oklahoma City, graciously handed over a Corvette to a child in need.

His donated Corvette was actually a remote control car... one he delivered in his very own bright candy-apple red Corvette.

In fact, more than 100 Corvette owners donated toys at this year’s Toys for Tots Marine Corp drive in Oklahoma. With a unique twist to the standard holiday drive, Corvette owners were invited to bring an unwrapped toy for area children in need, while having the unique opportunity to meet others throughout the state who share a love for the Chevy classic.

Flashy car owners raced for the chance to help, with donations pouring in from all corners of the state.  In fact, so many toys were donated that a backup vehicle was required to help transport them all.

The donation drop-off point – the Santa Fe Cattle Company – served each Marine and his or her family members to steak dinners, compliments of the Corvette owners. For Larry, this was the final and "most rewarding" lap of the Corvettes for Kids toy drive.

"The Corvette owners and restaurant guests applauded and thanked the Marines for the great work they do for their communities while serving overseas and in their communities with Toys for Tots," said Larry. "It was a ‘feel good’ holiday experience for everyone involved."
