Peak Season Begins

BNSF's 2008 peak season began Nov. 28 and runs through Dec. 23. Once again, BNSF employees will work to provide failure-free service to United Parcel Service (UPS) during this important holiday shipping season.

How you can help

All BNSF employees are asked to recognize team members they have witnessed go above and beyond to safely deliver UPS shipments during peak season and to prevent potential service failures. E-mail Good Saves to goodsave@bnsf.com.

Good Save examples

Examples of last year's Good Saves include the following:

• Mainline wheel repair
• Delivering packages on time, even in the most extreme weather
• Catching a missed set-out, and
• Finding and correcting a computer error

Last year, more than 200 Good Save submissions demonstrated BNSF employees' resourcefulness, teamwork and quick actions.

2007 peak season

BNSF and UPS achieved a perfect peak season in 2007, and both companies look forward to the same results this year.

Last year's numbers speak for themselves. In 29 days, employees helped deliver 34,000 loads, which included more than 51 million packages, with zero service failures. Last year, BNSF’s failure-free streak for UPS actually continued past Christmas until mid-January -- 53 days without a failure.

"The 200-plus 'Good Saves' from our employees are what really made last year's peak season so rewarding," said Jim Gordon, director, UPS account at BNSF. “The efforts put forth by employees across the system and at the Network Operations Center were nothing short of amazing."
